The Book!
Mandy wrote a book! Managed Mischief: A Toolkit of Improv-Inspired Games was published in December 2016! It’s geared towards parents and teachers, and how they can use improv tools with kids in everyday life—not onstage, but at home, in the classroom, on the playground, or out in the world at large.
Theater, Improv, and Education
Working with theater companies and as a freelance educator, she teaches acting, improv, music, and dance. She directs plays and musicals for school theater programs, and also works with classes during the school day to produce curriculum-based theater. Currently, she teaches through Northwest Children’s Theater in Portland, OR.
She has been a teaching and performing improvisor since 1996, and has performed on stages and in festivals across the country. She also does scripted acting, and is a Resident Artist at Bag&Baggage.
Group Fitness and movement
Mandy folds a lot of movement into her teaching and directing, and has long studied puppetry, mask-work, dance, and other movement-based theatrical arts. She’s also currently studying aerial arts, and is certified to teach Zumba, Zumba Gold, and U-Jam. She’s been teaching dance-based group exercise for about 10 years; currently she teaches Zumba, Zumba Gold, and Cardio Kickbox at the Mittleman Jewish Community Center and freelances livestreamed and on-demand classes available at: mandanak.zumba.com
